Seattle, WA, October 2023 – We are thrilled to announce PIM Savvy has been chosen by Washington State Department of Commerce (COMMERCE) and Washington State Department of Revenue (DOR) to provide Tax Credit outreach and education services for the 2024 and 2025 tax seasons. PIM Savvy participated in this community outreach program during the 2023 tax season, and we are excited and ready to continue assisting qualifying taxpayers with free tax prep through our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, ensuring they receive all tax credits they have earned, and assisting with filing Working Families Tax Credit (WFTC) applications. This partnership with COMMERCE and DOR will continue to focus on the federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Washington state Working Families Tax Credit. Please visit WFTC.wa.gov for more information on WFTC and to apply online. Working together with Commerce and DOR, PIM Savvy will strive to accomplish the following goals:
- Promote and maximize awareness of WFTC and the federal EITC, including the purpose, benefits, eligibility criteria, filing access, and how to claim the available credit(s) via federal free tax preparation assistance programs, like the PIM Savvy VITA sites and other VITA sites in Washington state.
- Encourage eligible individuals and families to file a federal tax return and a WFTC application.
- Increase the number of eligible Washingtonians claiming the state WFTC and federal EITC.
- Provide access to free federal tax preparation assistance services through our two PIM Savvy VITA sites for eligible Washingtonians.
- Provide tax preparation for people with Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs) and information about where to find ITIN application and renewal assistance.
